The device works alongside other apps like RunKeeper and MyFitnessPal, as well as Garmin Connect, a free online fitness community that lets users track sleep patterns and trends, join online challenges, earn badges and so on. It doesn't have own heart-rate monitor, but works with compatible heart-rate monitors.

Yesterday, Misfit announced a partnership with IFTTT that allows users to automate tracking with the Shine, such as automatically logging sleep into a Google spreadsheet.
